mxm-mono-01 follows the Roland SH-101: one oscillator, one filter, one envelope, and one LFO. That short path is the point. A bass or lead patch is usually a few moves: choose the range, mix the saw or pulse with the sub, set cutoff and resonance, then shape the shared envelope.

The oscillator can mix saw, pulse, sub, and noise. Pulse width works by hand or from the LFO and envelope. The sub has three shapes, including a narrow pulse two octaves down.

A resonant four-pole low-pass sits at the centre. It loses body as resonance climbs rather than correcting the drop. The one ADSR reaches both the filter and amplifier, so decay and release change tone and articulation together. That coupling is a limitation, and it is also why the instrument is quick to read.

Glide stays in the voice. It starts at zero, then moves smoothly between held notes when raised. Legato and retrigger modes decide how the shared envelope reacts when notes overlap.

Interface

The Synth view follows the signal in six cards: Modulator, Oscillator, Mixer, Filter, Amplifier, and Envelope. Cutoff and resonance get the largest controls. The mix levels and envelope stages use sliders because comparing positions matters more than saving a few pixels.

Three displays answer questions the controls cannot:

• the mixer shows the waveform made by its four sources;
• the filter curve shows the cutoff, resonance, and envelope reach;
• the envelope display shows the shared shape and its current stage.

The cards wrap into rows when the host window narrows. Their order does not change. A separate Parameters view lists all 27 controls with direct text entry, useful for testing and precise edits.

The interface uses the collection teal. Light and Dark share the same structure, while each theme has its own neutral palette and contrast values.

Presets

Fifty factory sounds are compiled into the plugin. The browser groups them by bank and category, includes search, and puts favourites first. User patches are saved as readable JSON under the platform config folder.

Init is one plain oscillator through an open filter. Modulation depths, resonance, and glide start at zero. Configuration controls such as LFO rate, pulse width, and sub shape start somewhere useful, so the first amount you raise produces the change named on the panel.

Status

The editor can open in MXM Player as a floating plugin-owned window. Embedded DAW parenting, host-driven scaling, and commercial-host automation remain release work.
